Langsford Road

Everything I owned got torn to dust, too

So I could just

Shine my shoes and buy a brand new suit

I might climb up

to the elevated heights of all the finest towers

And drink my coffee with the queen

I called her baby

A Langford Road kind of lady

She’s more down to earth than new spring grass

We started off and it felt all funny

The wind blew hard and I drifted through my twenties

Had to drive home with my eyes closed

But now I’m back

And if I could I would have married her sooner than I had

I tried to listen

each time she tried to tell me different

If at times I let my eyes grow wide

Again and again I tried to roughen up the edges a bit

And just see her how I saw her for the first time

I called her baby

A Langford Road kind of lady

She’s more down to earth than new spring grass

We started off and it felt all funny

The wind blew hard and I drifted through my twenties

Had to drive home with my eyes closed

But now I’m back

And if I could I would have married her sooner than I had
